Enrolling in a 3K or Pre-K program in NYC involves a few steps, but the process is fairly straightforward. Here are the general steps to follow:
Determine eligibility: 3K is available to children who turn three years old by December 31st of the school year, while Pre-K is available to children who turn four years old by the same date. Additionally, families must live within the five boroughs of NYC to be eligible for either program.
Find programs in your area: The NYC Department of Education offers an online directory of 3K and Pre-K programs, which you can search by zip code, school district, or program type.
Apply to programs: Families can apply to up to 12 3K or Pre-K programs, prioritizing their choices in order of preference. Applications can be submitted online, by phone, or in person at a Family Welcome Center.
Receive placement offers: Families will receive a placement offer from one program, based on availability and the priority order of their choices. Families have a limited time to accept or decline the offer.
Register for the program: Once families accept a placement offer, they must register their child for the program by providing proof of residency, age, and other required documents.
It's important to note that the enrollment process and deadlines can vary slightly from year to year, so it's always a good idea to check the NYC Department of Education website for the most up-to-date information.
Please be advised that we do prioritize our current students. We offer Summer Programs for our future students as a great way to get familiar with our school prior to starting 3K and Pre-K in September.
